New Hope School in Moshono Region, Arusha, Tanzania
In 1993, a 13-year-old little girl with big dreams, desperate for opportunity, made a decision that few American children are ever confronted with....she left the love and comfort of her family home, where no schooling was available, to live with her grandmother, close enough to a school for her to walk each day, 6 miles each way. Day after day, the Headmaster asked her for her school fees and night after night the little girl prayed for the money that would allow her to continue her education. Finally, a month into her schooling, the headmaster pulled the little girl aside and kindly demanded the required school fees. Broken and afraid of her future in a world of no opportunity, this child confessed that she didn’t have and wouldn’t have the money due. Over this month, the headmaster had noticed her dedication, her work ethic in class, the length that she was willing to go. He saw her heart breaking and it broke his. So he proposed a solution. That little girl would promise to always do her best and to help other students with their studies. She also promised that whatever success she attained, financial and/or position or influence, she would return to help those still where she came from. Flash forward 25 years, Annie is that 13 year old girl. Please help us to make an impact on the students of New Hope School today through supporting the work of Promises in Tanzania.
